This week the Sistas chat with Civil Rights Activist, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland and her son Loki Mulholland about their documentary An Ordinary Hero. Award-winning filmmaker Loki Mulholland, chronicles Joan’s Civil Rights Activism, including the famous sit-in at Woolworths, being the first white person to attend the Historically Black College Tougaloo, and her work with Civil Rights Leaders Dr. Martin Luther King and Medgar Evers.

Also, today marks 50 years to the day of the tragic 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, which took the lives of 4 innocent girls. Joan was there and will share how this tragedy impacted America, as well as changed her life forever.

Coming face-to-face with the KKK and being imprisoned in Mississippi’s brutal Parchman Prison has not caused Joan to back away from life. She raised five sons as a single mother, is enjoying being an active grandmother and continues to be a force for good in the world.
